grafが企画・デザインしたクララ・スフェイルの個展「Spiritual Geography」を、2019年11月24日（日）－ 12月15日（日）の期間、奈良県天理市のホワイトキューブのギャラリー「Art-Space TARN」にて開催いたします。
本展は、天理市と共同で進めるアーティスト・イン・レジデンスプログラム「TENRI ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE in NARA」に、2019年度の後期アーティストとしてパリ在住でレバノン出身のクララ・スフェイル氏を招聘しています。10月から約50日間、天理市に滞在しリサーチを通して制作された作品を「Spiritual Geography」と題した展覧会にて発表いたします。

1986年レバノン生まれ、パリ在住
2005年から、レバノンやその他の国でパフォーマンスを発表し、 イメージの動きを探究するショートビデオを制作。 現在は、パリ、ベイルート、カイロに活動拠点をわけ、 パフォーマンス、映像またその他のメディアを通じてさまざまな媒体と 研究方法を用いて作品制作を展開している。
近年の主な作品に2019年《Rhythmic Variations》（律動の変異）ダンス、 2018年《Le soleil sur le mur de ma chambre》 （私の部屋の壁の太陽）ダンス／ビデオ、 2017年《Al Qaleb》（《La Forme〈形〉》） ダンス、 2015年《Two Portraits》ダンス／ビデオなどがある

Using still and moving images, gestures, maps, sounds and words, “Spiritual Geography” is the ensemble of art works to portray multiple directions in which the artist connected to Tenri city and neighboring areas. As much as it is a connection influenced by the history that one transports and holds in himself; it is also the product of the experience only discoverable as one lives it. New realities (sometimes punctual and other times durable) become possible. Horizontal, ascendant, or grounded perspectives towards particular elements from landscape and human encounters alternate all along the process of creation to build a series of visual essays.
Through juxtaposition of different scales of vision, sounds, as well as direct body and movement images, the research of the artist is digging further in ways the human experience contributes to new discourses about a geographic area and its representations.

Choreographer, videographer
Born in Lebanon (1986) and lives in Paris.
Since 2005 she presented several performances in Lebanon and other countries and made short videos exploring movement in images.
Currently, she divides her time and activities between Paris, Beirut and Cairo and works on developing art works combining different mediums and research methods through performances, films and other Medias.
